Chainmail
I've run a few recreation Chainmail games to learn how to play. Here, I have my abridged adaptation of the rules, which I call Chain Shirt. All of the distances in inches are halved; I used 15 mm miniatures and a medium-size table (about 4' by 2'). It's laid out in a booklet format. To print it, use US Letter paper, print double-sided with “flip on short edge,” keep the sheets in order, then fold the stack in half and staple through the fold. Then, there are two scenarios with player handouts.
The Mill at Vaudricourt is a Hundred Years' War scenario. It's the first one we did and very straightforward to run. The two sides start equidistant from a mill, which is on top of a hill. There are a few forests spread around the area. It's about 100 points per side.
The Garrison of 'Ayn Tur'an was more ambitious and designed for two players per side, with 100 points per player. The Ayyubids are split between a small garrison at a well and a relief force of cavalry. The Franks then have a large attacking force which starts much closer to the well. There are some hills around to make movement more difficult.
