Mumbai
AmTropical monsoon
On the Arabian Sea coast, Mumbai’s climate is driven by the monsoon. It has intense rains during the summer months, while the rest of the year is dry. Temperature variations throughout the year are modest. The high rainfall can cause flooding during the monsoon months. Thunderstorms occur during the onset at the beginning and end of the wet season. Cyclones also occur, although they are rare enough (once-a-decade events) to not be included in a model.
Optional rules: Heavy rain has a 1-in-6 chance to turn into a deluge (>2”). Rain during the first month of the monsoon and monsoon retreat has a 1-in-3 chance of being a thunderstorm (1-in-10 otherwise).
