AfTropical rainforest
Belém is a port city at the mouth of the Amazon and good for a rainforest or jungle campaign. It is near the equator and both temperature and daylight vary little. Precipitation is substantial, especially during the wet season where it rains almost daily. There is a daily rhythm to these rains, which tend to peak in the afternoon (2 to 3 pm), trending later (5-9 pm) in June, July, and August. Thunderstorms, winds, and flooding are all common, and thunder is heard on about 160 days yearly, but hurricanes and cyclones do not occur.
Optional rules: heavy rainfall during the wet season has a 1-in-4 chance of turning into a deluge (>2” of rain). All rainfall has a 1-in-4 chance of developing a significant thunderstorm.
